Among the names linked with a move to Parkhead was Daniel Amartey, a former Leicester City star who had previously worked under Rodgers.

Amartey, a Ghanaian international with 52 caps to his name, recently became a free agent after his contract with Leicester City expired.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who chose not to extend his stay with the now-relegated English Championship club, had been exploring his options, sparking hope among the Celtic fans for a potential reunion with Rodgers.

Rodgers, who was appointed as Celtic’s new boss earlier this month, was reportedly keen on bringing Amartey to the Scottish Premiership. The Northern Irishman’s familiarity with Amartey’s playing style and capabilities made the midfielder a promising addition to the Hoops’ squad.

However, Amartey is reportedly set to sign a three-year deal with Turkish club Besiktas.

The Sun reports that the club have been monitoring Amartey closely since his departure from Leicester City and have now successfully opened talks with the player.
