Reports are emerging that Celtic’s board is preparing to thwart any attempt by Tottenham’s soon-to-be manager, Ange Postecoglou, to entice John Kennedy to join him.
According to SunSport, Postecoglou seems keen on having Kennedy join him in his English Premier League journey.
The Australian, who recently led Celtic to a treble is said to have conveyed his intention to join the North London club to Celtic’s majority shareholder Dermot Desmond on Saturday evening and told them of his intention to bring some of his staff he’s had at Celtic if they wish to come which includes Kennedy; Gavin Strachan and analyst Greg Wallace.
This potential disruption of the reigning champions’ coaching staff has reportedly caused some upset among Desmond, chairman Peter Lawwell, and chief executive Michael Nicholson. They are thought to be opposed to the idea and have allegedly made their stance known to Kennedy. Brendan Rodgers tried to tempt John away to Leicester four years ago.

Kennedy, 39, has been part of Celtic for over two and a half decades.
He started as a youth player, made his way to the first team before an injury ended his playing career prematurely. Since then, he has been a first-team coach under the guidance of Ronny Deila, Brendan Rodgers, Neil Lennon, and Postecoglou.
He even took on the role of interim manager for a three-month stretch after Lennon left in 2021.

Reports suggest that Kennedy may be considering the prospect of reuniting with Postecoglou, believing that he has hit his ceiling at Parkhead. He won’t be considered for manager and if the new man wants his own assistant, it leaves Kennedy in the lurch.
It will be a strange juxtaposition for some Celtic fans who were adamant both Kennedy and Strachan should have been sacked after the pandemic season to make way for Ange’s own staff. The Australian came in at the time and decided to go forward with both and have been much a part of Celtic’s revival as Ange behind the scenes.
