Celtic have had many players pass through their gates over the years, with some etching their name into the history books.
Many have had some wonderful careers, and life has continued to past Celtic, which has led to sons of former players becoming linked with Celtic.

Jordan Larsson – FC Copenhagen
The son of Celtic icon Henrik Larsson, Jordan Larsson is enjoying a successful spell with FC Copenhagen. The 27-year-old Swedish international has scored 23 goals in 86 appearances since joining the Danish side in 2023.

Sydney van Hooijdonk – Bologna / Norwich (loan)
Sydney van Hooijdonk, son of former Hoops forward Pierre, has impressed across Europe. After rising through the ranks in the Netherlands, he earned a move to Serie A side Bologna and spent last season on loan at Norwich City. A self-declared Celtic fan, the 25-year-old has was linked with a move to Celtic, but nothing ever surfaced.
Chris McStay – Ilinden
Paul McStay’s son Chris has taken his career to Australia, playing for Ilinden in the NPL NSW. Now 29, the midfielder relocated in 2020 and has since cemented his place in the Australian semi-professional scene. His journey has taken him far from Celtic Park but keeps the McStay name active in football.
Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink – FC Twente U19
Lucas, son of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, is turning heads in the Netherlands. A tall, powerful striker, he features for FC Twente’s U19s and has already represented his country at youth level. He made the bench twice in the Europa League this season. Lucas recently signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2027.
Gallagher Lennon – Free Agent
Neil Lennon’s son Gallagher has spent time with Partick Thistle and St Mirren, with loan spells at Dumbarton and Annan Athletic. He has captained Northern Ireland at youth level and, at just 19, remains on the lookout for a new club after being released.
Frederik Rieper – FC Fredericia
Son of former Celtic defender Marc Rieper, Frederik has built a reputation in his own right in Denmark. The towering 25-year-old centre-back now plays for FC Fredericia in the Danish First Division.
Yassine Touré – Wrexham
Yassine Touré, son of ex-Celtic and Arsenal man Kolo Touré, started at the Celtic academy before moving to Leicester City’s youth system. Now 19, he trialled with then-League One side Wrexham, before making the permanent switch.
