69 and Out – Rodgers Tastes Domestic Defeat

CELTIC served up the WORST display in domestic competition under Brendan Rodgers this afternoon against Hearts.

The team went into the break 2-0 down after being bullied by a Hearts side with the wind in their sales. There was no doubt about it, Hearts deserved their lead!

Brendan Rodgers made two changes at the break, changing his shape and bringing on a second striker,  Tierney and Ntcham made way for Dembele and Armstrong.

Not that it made any real difference to proceedings, a slip by Jozo Simunovic who was already having a nightmare let Hearts in for a third – The Invincibles were rattled.

The physical battle passed the team by, the team’s performance akin to bringing a paper aeroplane to a gunfight.

Too many games and too many off form players caught up with Celtic in a big way. Credit to Hearts though who kept their intensity throughout the game and always seemed on the front foot. A fourth goal came calling when Craig Gordon conceded a penalty, but in truth, the game was already gone.

Celtic’s impressive unbeaten run stops at 69, and it always had to come. A new record starts on Wednesday and Brendan Rodgers will want to see a massive reaction from his players.

The winter break can’t come soon enough.
