Sunderland striker Josh Maja looks like he’s closing in on a move to France after intense speculation over his future in recent weeks.
Sky Sports reporter Kieth Downey claims French side Bordeaux have launched a bid for the soon to be out of contract star which would see Maja move away from the Stadium of Light this month.
BREAKING: Josh Maja is on the verge of joining French club Bordeaux for a deal that will rise to £3.5m.
The two clubs are haggling over the fine details of the deal. Personal terms will not be an issue.— Keith Downie (@SkySports_Keith) January 23, 2019
Celtic have been linked with the forward for some time. Maja’s contract runs out at the end of the season and it was thought the Bhoy’s could be in the running to sign the player up on a pre-contract.
However, the player looks set to take a very different path and leave Jack Ross without a potent striker for the second half of Sunderland’s season.
Celtic already signed two strikers in this window but with Timo Weah only here for six months, it did make sense if the club were to sign the player and wait until the summer to get him in.
Right now, France looks like the striker’s next destination.
