2006-born Goalkeeper Trains With Celtic First-team Ahead of Livingston Trip

Young Celtic goalkeeper Aidan Rice trained with the Hoops’ first team on Friday ahead of this weekend’s trip to Livingston.

Born in 2006, the 17-year-old has not even made an appearance for the B team this campaign and rather, has jumped straight to first-team training from the under-18s.

Young Rice appeared to be one of three ‘keepers who trained ahead of Sunday going by pictures released by the club. Scott Bain and Joe Hart were the other two.

For the teenager to get the experience of being involved in the elite environment at Lennoxtown is tremendous.

He likely won’t make any matchday squads between now and the end of the season but after signing his maiden professional deal in August, Rice will look to push soon.

The stopper wasn’t the only youngster to be included in training yesterday. 18-year-old midfielder Kyle Ure also made the cut.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has always looked to give youth an opportunity, his inclusion of teenage duo Rice and Ure backing up his words.
